Youth of the Year
Youth of the Year is a national leadership and recognition program with the opportunity to become Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s national teen spokesperson!
A Premier Recognition Experience
March 8, 2025
Each year, across America, teen Club members participate in Youth of the Year to share how Boys & Girls Clubs have positively impacted their lives. Teens work with mentors to write essays about their lives and experiences that they turn into short speeches and culminate in a public event where each participant performs their speech to a live audience and a panel of judges. The competition also involves an interview with the judges on how they will use their leadership and influence as a voice for all youth within their communities. The winner will have the opportunity to compete at the state, regional, and national level with winners from other Clubs.
Over the decades, Youth of the Year participants have exemplified the mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs and are proof of the impact Clubs make in transforming and saving kids’ lives.
An annual membership application must be completed by a parent or guardian for each youth eligible for membership. Parents and/or guardians must attend a New Member Orientation with each child (K-6) becoming a member. Teens must also attend orientation, though parents or guardians do not need to attend.
